You Are God's Treasure Box!

Colossians 1:27
"what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles: which is Christ is you - the hope of glory."

Colossians 2:3
" in Whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge"

2 Corinthians 4:7
" but we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us"

In ancient times, people would hide their precious treasures, like gold and gems, inside earthen vessels that would not draw attention so that in this way their valuables were safe from thieves. Most people don't even notice something that looks commonplace. Or someone.

Mary Magdalene was a woman who was known for being a 'great sinner'. The bible doesn't say exactly what her great sin was; however, tradition has it that she was a prostitute, an adulterer, a woman used by men and discarded as 'dispensible'. Perhaps she was.

Perhaps she lost her husband, who in those days would take care of the women of the house. Or perhaps she chose to leave of her own free will. Who knows? It doesn't really matter. What matters is that she was alone, relying only on her beauty or her experience to survive. No man had ever looked at her with anything other than lust. Except one. Jesus.

The gospel of Luke recounts a story of a woman (whom tradition believes to be Mary Magdalene) who entered into a Pharisee's house while Jesus was there eating, bringing an alabaster box of perfume with her. Breaking the neck, she poured it on Jesus's feet while also washing his feet with her tears and drying them with her hair.

Luke 7:37-38
" "And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.(KJV)

It was a very expensive and public gesture in a place where she was not wanted. Yet what caused her to do this? Repentence? Love? Guilt? Gratitude? Or was it perhaps the knowledge, the firm conviction, a public announcement that she was not the same - that she was forgiven.

She was also the first one to see Jesus after His resurrection; the one who took the message to the rest of the apostles that Jesus had resurrected. Why? Because God was making a point. In no other time in history have women been more treated as possessions, as lesser beings, as being unworthy of God's attention, than during the time of Jesus. God's Word came to show her and us the power that has been given to us.

What Is Your Name?

Isaiah 62:3
"you shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God."

What changed Mary Magdalene? What caused her to follow Jesus to the cross and beyond? The love of God! It was seeing herself in the mirror of God's Word, love personified, that healed her heart, empowered her to change her life, and re-created her into a jewel of great price. She stopped answering to the names people called her and she began to answer instead to "crown of glory" and 'royal diadem'. She allowed Jesus into her heart and became God's Treasure Box!

Malachi 3:17
"and they shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels, and I will spare them..."

What name do you answer to? Is it the one that everyone calls you when you are out of hearing? Is it the one you call yourself when you are depressed, when things are going wrong for you? Or is it the one that you hear through God's word - the one that your heavenly Father whispers to you in the midst of your agony, of your suffering, of your sin, saying, 'get up! don't give up, my daughter, my treasure; seek me and I will recreate you, and renew a righteous spirit within you.' God wants so much to love you and to help you become the woman He called you to be. He wants you to be His Treasure Box too!

When you ask Jesus into your heart, it means you accept, you BELIEVE the very Word of God Himself. Like Eve in the garden of Eden, you will find yourself being asked the same question, "did God really say...??" It is your turn now to turn the tables on the devil and make the correct response. It is your turn to regain the dominion and the power to change lives, to heal the sick, to help others, to love and obey the Lord - to live as the daughter of the Most High!

John 4:4
"greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world."

When Jesus comes into your heart, He brings with Him the anointing, the POWER to triumph over your circumstances. You can turn your situation around by speaking God's words over your life, your family, your desires. Colossians 2:3 declares that in Christ, in the Anointed One and in His Anointing, are hidden ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ALL! That means the anointing to prosper in every area of your life - your health, your relationships, knowledge to succeed in everything you set your hand to, financial wealth and the wisdom to use it. It means having all that you need in life plus plenty left over to help your relatives, your neighbors, or whoever and wherever you see a need!!

The Alabaster Box

Alabaster is a white stone that is found in Egypt and is very similar to our modern day marble. It was hollowed out to make boxes or jars in which to place ointments and perfumes. It was considered to be the best material for preserving expensive ointments because it kept what was put into it without changing it in any way.

Colossians 1:27
What are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory

If you have asked Jesus into your heart, you are not the woman you once were! Jesus came to live inside you!  Christ in you - the hope of glory.  Do you know that the word Christ has never been translated properly? It is a Greek word that comes from the Hebrew word "Messiah" meaning Anointed One and His Anointing, His power - in you.

The power of God is in you! But its more than that. YOU are anointed, too.  If Christ means Anointed One, then Christian means to be anointed like Him. Jesus died and rose again so that He could give birth to a new race of reborn men and women who would be equipped with His own Anointing, His own power, who would walk the earth not only doing the same works He did, but even greater works!

Colossians 2:3
In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge

When you made Jesus Lord of your life, your name was added to the Covenant that God made with mankind through Jesus. Your name was signed in His precious blood, engraved in the palm of God's hand, nevermore to be erased.  You became entitled to the benefits of that Covenant as well.

All of God' wisdom and knowledge and understanding and honor and riches are inside you.  The power to prosper and succeed in everything you do is already in you. Because the anointing is on the Word of God.  If you are not prospering in your life, in your finances, in your health, it is because you have not been in the Word like you should. It is because you have not put the Word first place in your life. It is because you have not made God's Word final authority over your life.

God's Word spoken over your situation brings results.  One Word from God can give you an idea, a concept or an invention that will make you a millionaire. One Word from God can save you marriage.  It can put your family back together again.  Or it can deliver you from the snare that the devil has you bound in!

But you are the one who has to look for it.  You are the one who must get it in you. Jesus is the Word of God. When He comes to live in your heart, He doesn't come empty-handed, but filled with treasures untold. Salvation, health, wealth, prosperity, peace, wholeness.

2 Corinthians 4:7
but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the power may be of God and not of us

It is the Word of God that gives you understanding of how to prosper. We have to stop believing in what we know or what we think we know, and let God's Word do it for us.  Whatever situation you are in now, find where it is written in the Covenant and  you can have it.  Let God BE God in your life.

You are God's very special container of His treasures!  His "Alabaster Box".  He chose you out of the world, paid for you and washed in the blood of the Lamb.  Hollowed out by the wasing of the Word and filled with the ointment of God's power. Your flesh can't change it; your sin can't touch it.

The Anointed One and His Anointing inside you is preserved pure and powerful and holy and life-giving because it is God Himself Who lives inside you.  What Satan yearned for and lusted after and was kicked out of heaven for: the Anointing, the power, the right to sit at the right hand of God - God has given to you!

If you have read this far, it is because you hunger and thirst to see the manifestation of God's power in your own life.  To see miracles happen right before your eyes.  If you want to do the "greater works" then start speaking what the Word says about you; harvest what your heart desires with the Word.  Everything has to do with the WORD! Stop looking at yourself and start looking to Jesus, the Word.  Stop saying you are going to be and start saying you ARE.

  • The Spirit of the Lord God is upom me for He has anointed me!
  • But the Anointing that I have received from Him abides in me permanently!
  • Jesus is in me and the Father is in Him . . . that we may be One!
  • God has chosen me! He has ordained me! He has filled me! He is flowing through me!
  • I lay hands on the sick and they recover!
  • Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world!
  • I am the fragrance of the knowledge of God; the aroma of Christ to God!
  • I do alll things through His anointing which strengthens me!

If you have never asked Jesus into your heart and would like the opportunity to prove God and become His Treasure Box, say this:

God, I believe You love me. I believe You sent Jesus to pay for my freedom. I confess with my mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. I ask You now, Jesus, to come into my heart. I make You my Lord and Savior. God, you are now more than my God; You are my heavenly Father and I am your treasure box!  Amen.
