You Are God's Mansion!

Hebrews 3:6
"but Christ as a son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end."

2 Chronicles 3:6-7
"he adorned the temple with precious stones. and the gold he used was gold of Parvaim. He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls."

1 Corinthians 3:16
"don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?"

Do you remember the old nursery rhyme, The House That Jack Built? It goes something like this:

This is the house that Jack Built.
This is the malt
That lay in the house that Jack Built.
This is the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack Built.
This is the cat
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack Built.

and so on, and so on, and so on!

King Solomon lived centuries before Christ and is known to be the wisest and richest man who has ever lived, even by our standards. He determined in his heart to build a house for the name of the Lord, and he spared no expense doing so. He hired the best craftsmen, architects, and artists he could find. He used the finest gold and fabrics to beautify the inside. He even used nails made out of gold!

2 Chronicles, Chapter 2 tells us that when the house was completed and Solomon brought the Ark of the Covenant into it and held a great prayer meeting to dedicate it, God arrived on the scene.

". . . that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God."

Suddenly it wasn't just a house or a temple anymore. Its characteristics changed - the house became holy because of Who it contained.

Mirror, Mirror On the Wall

Have you seen the movie Shrek? Its about a petty duke who determines to marry a princess so that he can become king. And everytime he looks in the mirror (that he stole from Snow White's stepmother), he wants to know who he is. And the mirror is so afraid of him that it always tells him what he wants to hear. Which is never the truth.

Who do you see when you look in your mirror? Does it tell you the real truth or just the lies that you've lived with all your life? There is a mirror that doesn't lie; one that tells you not only what you look like but also what you can have, what you can be and what you can do! It is the mirror of God's word. Like the house that Solomon built, you too are beautifully and wonderfully made. As a matter of fact, you are made in the very image and likeness of God Himself!

In the movie Shrek, it is discovered that Princess Fiona is not what she appears to be. By day she is a beautiful princess but by night she turns into an ogre. What are you transformed into when the darkness of sickness or lack or loss overtakes you? Do you dispair? Do you believe yourself to be small or powerless? Or do you turn to the true mirror of God's word to know who you truly are, even in the midst of darkness? Does the cover of night transform a great and beautiful mansion into a poor, small house? Of course not. It may be hidden for a while but only until daylight comes. The darkness of your tribulation may cover you for a while but you are still God's mansion.

Do you doubt it? Let me tell you about the house that Dad built. My Dad is a master builder and He lives nothing to chance. He uses the best materials, the best Craftsman, and the best Foundation, so that if a hurricane or tornado should come against that house, it will not be destroyed. He also fills it with the best - Himself.

Genesis 12:2
I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you will be a blessing.

You are blessed so that you can be a blessing to others. Do you know what being blessed means? It means "empowered to prosper". It means whatever you touch succeeds. It means having more than enough for your own family and more so that you can help others. How many people do you know who have no car? Wouldn't you like to be able to give them one? What would it cost you especially if you already have several?

Wouldn't you like to be able to help someone financially? Someone with a sick child and no money; someone who was recently laid off with no resources, someone who is about to lose their home? Yes, you can! Because God has already provided these things for you - all you have to do is believe Him and receive.

Colossians 1:13
"for He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the son of His love, in Whom we have redemption, even the forgiveness of sins."

We have Christ inside us, the hope of glory: the presence of God as Father, as Word and as Power. You no longer live just by this physical world of ours, limited by your senses. You can now operate in the spiritual world which is definitely more powerfull and limitless. The power to prosper is inside you already! You just have to tap into it and get it going. You live by a different set of rules now - those of God's Word.

If the doctor says you have an incurable disease, thank him, respect him, follow his instructions BUT GO TO THE WORD! That is the higher authority. Find where it is written that God has given you long life and speak it from your heart. Find where it is written that Jesus came to give us an abundant life, a life full of health, and speak it from your heart. Stop living by the rules of the flesh and start being who you are - God's castle, God's mansion, filled with His glory and power!

Colossians 2:9-10 states, "for in Him all the fullness of the Diety lives in bodily form and you have been given fullness in Him, who is the head over every power and authority."

God, the Creator of the universe, the ultimate Master Builder, the One who says "I create the fruit of your lips" and "remember Me for I give you power to get wealth" lives in you! Greater is He that lives in you than he that is in the world. The power of the living God resides inside you and people around you can't help but notice you. There's something about you that glows, that speaks, that emanates "princess" no matter what.

Psalm 45:13
"the king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold."

The Queen of Sheba

It is recorded that a great queen from the land of Sheba, which is in the continent of Africa, went to see King Solomon to prove for herself all she had heard of his riches and wisdom. When she had seen all of his wisdom, the house he had built, the food of his table, even what his servants wore, she fainted! She could not believe how much gold and precious stones were in abundance at his court.

You, too, need to 'prove' God for yourself. Let the Word of God show you who you really are - God's very own mansion! Believe it! Believe it, dear sister, because that's exactly how God sees you!
